Information About THE BAGNI DI LUCCA CASINO
The elegant casino in Bagni di Lucca is famous for inventing roulette in 1837, and for Puccini playing there. It was closed in 1953 but has recently been restored to its former glory and reopened in August 2009 after a long battle by local people to have it open once more.
It currently has automated games (roulette, black jack, poker, fruit machines) as well as a bar and terrace, and artefacts from the original casino.
It is hoped that 'real' games, with live croupiers, will soon also be permitted.
