ITALY, TUSCANY, SIENA, SAN GIMIGNANO

Delightful farmhouse nestled in Sienese Chianti countryside at short distance from San Gimignano, surrounded by 12 hectares of land. Garden with swimming pool, large olive grove about 300 trees, an area dedicated to horticulture. A dream for lovers of Tuscany, the countryside and Italian history, art and culture. Here you can find all of this.

Location
San Gimignano, also known as the Middle Ages Manhattan thanks to its unique high towers. A crossroads of important medieval trade and home to scholars, writers, historians. Located along one of the routes of Via Francigena it was considered as one of resting places where travelers stopped to recover from the fatigue of their journey.  It also hosted many personalities of high lineage, such as the Archbishop of Canterbury during his travels to the Papal State, the great poet Dante Alighieri, as ambassador of the Guelph group in Tuscany.

During the papacy of Julius II, his high prelate Paolo Cortesi, established his residence in one of the buildings in the area, making it an important and well-known center of humanities that welcomed and hosted the political and cultural elite of that period.

Description
Leaving the main road that leads to San Gimignano and going along a typical dirt road, you can reach the top of the hill that overlooks the town. A small nucleus of houses all in stone opens to the view, surrounded by typical neatly cultivated hills.

The building with the typical exposed stone exterior has along the walls delightful bushes of roses and lavender growing, providing a wonderful perfume, and entering the main door you are struck by how time seems to have stopped.

The building consists of two levels in addition to the tower, and has 5 bedrooms all with private bathrooms, overlooking the surrounding countryside, some with a sitting room. The tower is unique of its kind, here there is an apartment with kitchenette and a bathroom that leaves you speechless, it is possible to indulge in a relaxing bath while admiring the towers of San Gimignano in the distance.

The ground floor houses a very large common room with large fireplace on one side and old manger on the other as a piece of furniture and on one side a typical country house kitchen, large and with a dining area, with windows looking towards the garden.
The staircase leading to first floor is a unique piece of history. The irregularity and harshness of the steps inspire reverence and respect towards the great personalities who have climbed them.

State and finishes
The owners took a building that was abandoned after years of neglect and restored it to its former glory. A piece of history that otherwise would have been permanently lost. The recovery of the building, the original spaces, the ancient materials, the stones of the area, everything was treated with attention, passion, love. The end result is different from all other buildings found in Chianti region.

Outdoor spaces
The property is surrounded by 12 hectares of land. The part closest to the building is kept as a garden, where several gazebos make it pleasant to spend time outdoors on summer days, sipping a good glass of wine while reading a book, casting a glance from time to time at the surrounding landscape. In a slightly detached position to ensure greater privacy, the swimming pool, surrounded by a large sundeck.

The remaining part of the land is home to about 300 olive trees that provide the fragrant Tuscan oil, several fruit trees, a large area cultivated as a vegetable garden, to benefit from fresh vegetables without going anywhere, and last but not least, the production of saffron, also known as red gold, famous for its many properties and benefits.

Potential use
Currently the property is used as a luxury relais, thanks to the location, the services provided both inside and outside the structure. It can be easily converted without major upheaval into a private residence to be used as as a country house or as a residence to live in all year round. All for demanding people who love the countryside and history of our beautiful Italy.
