ITALY, TUSCANY, SIENA, SAN QUIRICO D’ORCIA
In the historic center of San Quirico, this unique 4 storey property is rich in history and charm. Built in 1000, it became a nunnery in 1400 and was then converted into the courthouse.
The careful renovation has maintained and restored the ancient atmosphere of the house, uncovering an ancient well where they found decorated ceramic vessels, bronze coins and other artefacts. The cellar, with its original terracotta tiles, is still used for the storage of wines. In the living room there is a column used to support the holy pilgrim statue carved in 1000 AD. The beautiful fireplace dates back to 1700.
Today, the kitchen is bespoke Italian design. The bathroom has tile and granite flooring, Duravit sanitary ware designed by Philip Starck and lights by Ingo Maurer. Two bedrooms have air conditioning. At the top of the house there is a small tower with lovely terrace from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Val d’Orcia.
