A GUIDE TO THE TOP ANTIQUE MARKETS AND FLEA MARKETS IN TUSCANY

If, like us, you can’t resist rummaging through market stalls for antiques and unique bric and brac, where better to do it than in Tuscany where you will find a wealth of beautiful and unusual items to furniture your Tuscan villa or farmhouse! We’ve put together a handy guide so you can quickly find out where and when they’re on.

Monthly Antiques & Flea Markets:

Arezzo Antiques Fair

  • When: First Sunday of the month + preceding Saturday
  • Where: Piazza Grande, Piazza San Francesco, Logge Vasari, Arezzo
  • What: Italy’s oldest and largest antiques market (500+ dealers)

Lucca Antiques Market

  • When: Third Sunday + preceding Saturday of the month
  • Where: Various piazze (Antelminelli, San Giusto, San Giovanni, etc.), Lucca
  • What: Second-largest antique market in Tuscany (about 220 exhibitors)

Pistoia Antiques Market

  • When: Second Sunday of the month (April–October)
  • Where: Historic center — Via Cavour, Via Cino, Via Bozzi (winter relocates indoors)

Montepulciano Antique & Artisan Fair

  • When: Second Sunday + preceding Saturday of the month
  • Where: Piazza Grande, Montepulciano
  • What: Mix of antiques, artisan crafts, vintage clothing

Florence Antique Markets

  • Permanent Flea Market in Piazza Annigoni — daily
  • Mercato Arti e Mestieri dell’Oltrarno — second Sunday of the month in Piazza Santo Spirito
  • Indipendenza Antiquaria — third Saturday & Sunday (except Jul/Aug), Piazza Indipendenza
  • Ciompi/Ciompi Antique Fair — last Sunday each month in Piazza Annigoni/Ciompi

  • First Sunday monthly —  about 70 stalls

Forte dei Marmi Antique Market

  • Second Sunday + preceding Saturday (May–October) — about 60 stalls

Siena Antiques Market

  • Third Sunday monthly — 90–100 exhibitors in Piazza del Mercato

Grosseto – Piazza Stefano De Maria

  • Fourth Sunday monthly —  about 60 stands

  • Second Sunday monthly — antique dealers in Piazza della Repubblica & Via Roma

Bientina & San Miniato (Pisa area)

  • Bientina: Fourth weekend monthly; San Miniato: First Sunday monthly

Planning Tips

  • Most markets run early morning to early afternoon, typically 7 – 14:00
  • Prime browsing time is just before opening, around 7–9 AM
  • Volumes vary: Arezzo (500+ vendors), Lucca (about 220), and smaller towns (50–120 stands)
  • Some summer fairs (e.g., Oltrarno, Indipendenza, Scandicci) may skip July/August
