A wonderful ancient mill located in north Chianti, a few kilometres from Florence, in an area protected by hills covered with olive trees and vineyards, in a large valley away from traffic. The recent renovation has brought this building back to its splendor, maintaining its charm. The covered loggia, large grounds and swimming pool, all give tranquility and allure to this property.
Location
The Val di Cintoia, just to the east of Greve in Chianti with its numerous streams, is the landscape in which this mill lies. The stream which runs calmly by testifies to the ancient work that was carried out there. Small villages, squares surrounded by small houses, ancient food shops dot the streets that run through the area. The chestnut woods, among others, ensure coolness during the hot summer days and allow you to go hiking.
Description
This ancient mill of about 200 square meters has been the subject of careful and meticulous restoration work both internally and externally. The recovery of ancient materials and ancient stones of which the original building was made and the use of new materials and current technology, testifies the attention and care with which the works were carried out and ensure that even today, a few years later the structure is in excellent condition.
Access to the property is via a small bridge that crosses the stream that flows alongside it and which in the past turned the mill wheels which ground grain.
On the ground floor of the building there is a large kitchen in which some details from the past are clearly visible, like the ancient hearth, and the stone sink. There are two large adjacent living rooms which share a modern fireplace, a dining room and a study.
On the first floor there are 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. A large cellar in the semi-basement with natural stone walls is great for storing wine and food.
State and finishes
Externally the structure is made of stone with some details in typical bricks of buildings that were once rural buildings. Internally was made a mix between new, such as the central and old fireplace, with the recovery of ancient materials. The bathrooms recall the country style of the building in materials and finishes. Everything is in excellent condition.
Outdoor spaces
The mill is surrounded by a large private garden bordered on one side by the stream and on the other by the slopes of the hills. There is a large and beautiful covered loggia, equipped with an oven, a barbecue and an area for outdoor lunches and dinners. The swimming pool (12 x 6 m) makes outdoor days pleasant. The numerous lavender and rose bushes that dot the garden satisfy the sight and the sense of smell.
Potential use
